Child Support at Home and Abroad: Road to The Hague

On November 23, 2007, The Hague Conference on Private International Law adopted the Convention on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance. This milestone event was the culmination not just of five years of negotiations preceded by four years of preparation, but of a century of law reform efforts in the United States and Europe to construct systems for the effective enforcement of child support obligations when parents live in different jurisdictions.
